I can’t believe this was already a week ago as last Sunday bf took me out for brunch to Cavallo Point, the Lodge at the Golden Gate. This is a special place for us. For the brief drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, it feels like a micro-mini get away. If we have fog in the city, it is usually clear across the bay…as was the case on this day.
In this former U.S. Army barrack resides Murray Circle Restaurant, Farley Bar as well as the kitchen and banquet facilities of Cavallo Point. I love the Colonial Revival architecture, especially the extensive front porch where you can dine and linger over drinks. There are even rocking chairs on the upper floor. Sublime.
We managed to get a table outdoors to enjoy the glorious sunshine and view! Beyond our seating area, you get a small peek at the other historic buildings on the property that house the main hotel reception and the cottage rooms.
Local dungeness crab sandwich, hobbs bacon, avocado, roasted tomatoes and butter lettuce.
You know what makes a crab club sandwich even better? A Peach Bellini AND an outstanding potato chip dip along with the view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Smoked chicken hash, poached eggs, fried potatoes, garden peppers with béarnaise.
Bf made a fantastic brunch choice with this chicken hash. It was decadent and yet the béarnaise sauce was on the lighter side.

Cavallo Point is a romantic get away for those seeking privacy and R & R. Also, with their spa facility, cottage rooms and banquet facility, I can imagine it would be lovely for a large gathering or family celebration. I have only dined here but each meal has felt like a little escape in this secluded enclave called Horseshoe Cove. I feel like it’s still a well-kept secret, even for those of us living in the bay area…and between you and me, I hope it remains that way.
