Jars can be stubborn buggers to open.  I’ve tried running them under hot water, tapping the lid on the counter, hitting the bottom of the jar (ouch!) and I’m sure you could add to these ideas.  Few methods work, and only some of the time.  Most of the time, they just leave my hand sore, me frustrated and the jar annoyingly, unopened.

Mom gifted me with a kitchen wonder many years ago and it’s become an indispensable tool in my kitchen.  I like recommending this gem to everyone and thought I’d share it with you today.

Here is my little green wonder, the Jar Key.

Simple, right?  Don’t underestimate its understated look because this cutie is a wiz.

Made out of high density plastic, this patented and design awarded jar opener really works!  You simply put the jar key on the side of the jar, pull lightly and it releases the vacuum seal so you can easily unscrew the lid.  No fuss, no muss.

You can find them in many stores, but I discovered something funny when I searched for the Jar Key online.  I found them here and it seems the price varies depending on the color.  Huh?  Apparently orange is for the big spenders at a whopping $11.08, while yellow is a modest $4.99.  Strange.

Whichever color you choose, it’s worth every penny.  I’m going to stock up on some more for gifts this year.  If you happen to receive one from me, try to act surprised.
